Security issue - Don't let the SL client remind your password

I know this post is slightly off-topic, but given the induced risks, I want to share this infomration with you. The Second Life Insider reported a security issue with Second Life. If you let the client remind your password, to avoid having to type it each time you go in-world, there is a way for hackers using a malicious web-page and InternetExplorer to gain access to your SL account.

All the details (and the way to do it as well) are explained on http://www.gnucitizen.org/blog/ie-pwns-secondlife. I did not test it myself. Anyway, I never let any software remind passwords for me...

I won't turn this blog in a hacker / safety oriented way, nor as a hoax spreading tool, but this vulnerability seems serious enough to deserve being comunicated widely.

Apfelland and crashes - 9222.15 by Ginko

This morning, I posted again JaneLight and JohnLight in Apfelland, but had poor results. JaneLight crashed nearly immediately, and JohnLight has been ejected from his bench after 12 L$ only.

Hopefully I had better camping this evening, so I could deposit 115 L$ by Ginko, reaching 9222.15. Depending on the week-end, I could reach the 10'000 L$ step sunday ! Sounds coooool... and good for my mood.

This week-end Josephina will inaugurate her club, more info in her "Club Josephina" group... This will certainly be a new cool place.

For the time, JaneLight and JohnLight are both camping on a 2L$ per 10 minutes bench in a very quiet place. I don't know yet if it is time limited or not. At least there are no animations, no trees, no avatars passing by, so I hope the client will not experience any difficulty.

Top it off, please - 2002.08 L$ by Ginko

Stopping so close to 2000 L$ this morning was just too frustrating, so I had a short camping while going for some late shopping with my wife, just enough time for JohnLight to earn 5 Lindens, so my total fortune my Ginko is now 2002.08 L$ !

2 done... 998 thousands to go !

My goals for the coming week-end are to do as many as passive camping as possible, but I will have a very busy week-end involving a birthday party, and much more, so no time to relaunch and monitor the SL clients.

If I have enough time, I will may be also post a summary of what went on since I started this challenge, and an updated strategy as the L$30 / day is definitively too pessimistic.

Going back to RL now.
